Spider Cupcakes

Happy Halloween you all!! I have a perfect creative dessert for your Halloween party,

Spider Cupcakes made of chocolate cupcakes topped with Chocolate ganache and Spider legs are made using pocky chocolate sticks.

Yield: 6 cupcakes


For Cupcake

  • 1/2 cup Flour

  • 3/8 cup Sugar

  • 3 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa powder

  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda

  • pinch of salt

  • 1/2 cup Milk

  • 3 tbsp Canola or vegetable Oil

  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract

For Chocolate Ganache

  • 1 ounce semisweet chocolate chips

  • 4 tbsp Heavy whipping cream

For The Spiders


To bake Cupcakes

  • Preheat oven to 350F.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

  • Add in milk, oil and vanilla extract.

  • Whisk together until smooth. Divide batter equally between the 6 cupcake liners.

  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a cupcake comes out clean.

  • Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.

To make Chocolate Ganache

  • Place heavy cream in bowl and microwave until very hot, almost boiling for about 1-2 minutes.

  • Add chocolate chips to heavy cream & let stand 1-2 minutes.

  • Whisk until smooth and the chocolate is completely melted.

  • Pour the chocolate ganache over the cupcakes as a glaze.

To make Spiders legs

  • Cut the Chocolate sticks at an angle, this will help form sharp angles at the joints. These sticks are very likely to crumble when you cut it, but that is ok as chocolate will cover this up in the next step.

  • Dip the cut ends of both halves of the Chocolate sticks in melted chocolate.

  • Arrange them on a tray lined with aluminum sheet or parchment paper.

  • Refrigerate them for 5-10 minutes for the chocolate to set. The melted chocolate will harden as it cools keeping the leg pieces stick together.

To decorate the Cupcake

  • Sprinkle Chocolate shavings over the ganache covered cupcakes.

  • Place 2 candy eyeballs on each cupcake.

  • Push on end of the Spider legs into the body of the spider which is the cupcake and then repeat until you get 3 legs on either side of the cupcake.

  • Serve immediately.
