Bellam Sunnundalu

A healthy and traditional sweet made with urad dal, jaggery and ghee.

Servings: 12 Ladoos


  • 1 cup Urad dal

  • 1 tbsp raw rice

  • 1 cup jaggery powder

  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder

  • 1/2 cup Ghee, melted


  • Dry roast urad dal on a low to medium flame until you get a nice aroma. Allow it to cool.

  • Blend both urad dal and rice to a fine powder.

  • Now mix together urad dal powder, jaggery powder and cardamom powder.

  • Slowly add melted hot ghee and keep mixing until the mix holds together.

  • Immediately start shaping the ladoo. Take a handful of mixture, roll and shape tightly into ladoo.

  • Let them dry out completely and then serve.
