Happy Raksha Bandhan you all!!Festivals are incomplete without Sweets and in India festivals are incomplete without Ladoos. Celebrate Rakhi trying out this Ladoo recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Besan/Gram flour

  • 1/4 cup Ghee

  • 1/2 cup Sugar, powdered

  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder

  • 1/2 tsp Chopped nuts for garnishing

Method

  • Sift the besan/gram flour and keep it aside.

  • In a non stick pan, add the ghee and let it melt on low heat.

  • Add besan to the pan and stir well to coat the flour with ghee.

  • On low flame keep stirring and let the besan roast nicely.

  • Keep on stirring, as it gets roasted, it starts to loosen up and form like a thick paste.

  • After around 20minutes, besan begins to turn deep golden in color and it will be little runny paste and ghee starts oozing out. Now add the Cardamom powder and mix well.

  • Remove pan from heat, stir for 2 to 3 minutes until it is cooled down a little.

  • Wait for 15 to 20 minutes, the besan would cool down. Now add powdered sugar. Do not add sugar if besan is hot else the sugar will melt and mixture becomes runny.

  • Mix everything together until sugar is well combined and a smooth besan dough is formed.

  • Take small portions and shape it into a ladoo. Repeat with the remaining dough.

  • You will get around 8 ladoos.

  • Garnish with chopped nuts and edible silver leaves.

Note: If your besan mixture is too dry, add 1-2tsp warm ghee to the mixture and then make besan ladoo.

If your besan mixture is too soft, you can refrigerate the mixture for 8-10 minutes an then make besan ladoo.
