Chocolate Souffle

It's World Chocolate Day, so let's celebrate with this Chocolate Souffle.


For Souffle

  • 3 tbsp Butter

  • 2 tbsp Cocoa powder, unsweetened

  • 3 oz Chocolate chips, semisweet

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 Egg yolks

  • 2 Egg whites

  • 2 tbsp Sugar

  • pinch Salt

  • pinch Cream of tartar

For Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Butter

  • 1/3 cup Sugar

  • 2 tbsp Cocoa powder, unsweetened

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup Milk

  • 1/2 oz Chocolate chips, semisweet


  • Heat oven t0 375 F.

  • Use 1 tbsp of the butter to grease two 8-ounce ramekins. Coat the ramekins with the cocoa powder, tapping out the excess.

  • Microwave chocolate chips and remaining butter. Stir occasionally until smooth.

  • Add in vanilla extract.

  • Whisk in the yolks one at a time until smooth.

  • Now add Cocoa powder, mix well and keep aside.

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites with the sugar, salt, and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.

  • Gently fold the egg-white mixture into the chocolate. Spoon into the ramekins.

  • Bake for 10 - 12min until risen with a slight wobble.

Prepare the Sauce while the Souffle is being Baked

  • In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat.

  • Add Sugar, Cocoa powder and flour. Stir well with a whisk.

  • Gradually add milk, stirring well with a whisk.

  • Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly with a whisk.

  • Remove from heat and add Chocolate chips stirring until smooth.

  • Serve Souffles immediately with the warm Chocolate Sauce.
