Snowflake puff pastry and a spinach dip filling are a great appetizer during the Christmas season that's festive in both shape and flavor.
Ingredients
12 oz Frozen chopped spinach
8 oz Cream cheese
1 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Black pepper
1/2 tsp Onion powder
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 cup Shredded mozzarella cheese
Egg Wash
1 egg
1/2 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
Method
Preheat oven to 400F, line baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, beat together the spinach and cream cheese.
Add paprika, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and crushed red pepper flakes and beat to combine.
Add mozzarella cheese and mix well until combined.
Using a rolling pin, lightly roll two sheets of puff pastry.
Cut each sheet of puff pastry into a 9-inch circle. Place one of the circles on the lined baking sheet.
Using a spatula, spread the spinach dip mixture evenly onto the pastry sheet.
Place the second round of puff pastry over top, press gently to seal.
Place a 2 inch bowl in the center of the circle. Using a sharp knife, cut from the edge of the glass outward to make 16 wedges around the circle.
Twist two of the wedges in toward each other then them together to seal them.
Repeat the twisting and sealing process with the remaining wedges to form 8 points to the snowflake.
Whisk egg with crushed red pepper flakes. Brush the snowflake with egg wash.
Bake it until the pastry is golden brown and puffed for about 20 to 25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 20 minutes and serve immediately.
